Darajat — Terms of Service
These terms apply when you use Darajat. Darajat is operated by Davlat Sultonov ("we", "us"). By using the app you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the app.
Accepting these terms is not the same as consenting to our processing of your religious practice data. That consent is asked for separately, in the app, and you can withdraw it without leaving. See the Privacy Policy.
1. What Darajat is
Darajat helps you memorise the Qur'an and keep what you have memorised. It tracks how well you recall each ayah and each transition between ayahs, and uses that to decide what to review and when. It is a study tool. It is not a teacher, and it is not a substitute for one — traditional hifz is learnt with a qualified instructor who can hear your recitation.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use Darajat, or older where your local law requires it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you should have a parent or guardian's permission.
3. Your account
Darajat creates an anonymous account for you on first launch. There is no password, and we cannot recover an account we cannot identify.
This has a practical consequence worth stating plainly: until you connect a Quran.com account, your access is tied to the device and browser you are using. Clearing your browser storage, or losing the device, may lose your progress permanently. Connecting a Quran.com account is what makes your record recoverable and available on more than one device.
You are responsible for keeping access to your device secure.
4. Connecting a Quran.com account
Connecting your Quran Foundation (Quran.com) account is optional. If you do connect it:
- we ask only for read permissions;
- we never write to your Quran.com streak, activity or goals — what you see from Quran.com in Darajat is shown as theirs, and is read-only;
- your Quran Foundation credentials are entered on Quran Foundation's own sign-in page. We never see your password;
- you can disconnect at any time, from Darajat or from your Quran.com account settings.
Your use of Quran Foundation's services remains governed by their own terms and privacy policy.
5. Qur'anic content
Qur'anic text, translations, transliterations and recitations in Darajat are provided by the Quran Foundation and remain theirs. They are licensed to us for use in this application, and are not ours to give away: you may not extract, scrape, redistribute, resell or sublicense them from Darajat.
Translations and tafsir are interpretations by their respective authors, not the Qur'an itself.
Never altered
Darajat's exercises hide, mask, reduce and reorder words as memorisation aids. They never present altered or corrupted Qur'anic text as though it were correct. Where an exercise offers wrong answers to choose between, those answers are always real words or verses drawn from elsewhere in the Qur'an — never invented text. We consider this a hard limit on the product, not a preference, and we will not add an exercise that requires breaking it.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- extract, scrape or redistribute Qur'anic content obtained through Darajat;
- reverse engineer, interfere with, or attempt to gain unauthorised access to the service;
- use the service to misrepresent the Qur'an, or in connection with content that is disparaging to Islam or that promotes extremist ideology;
- use automated means to place unreasonable load on our servers, or circumvent rate limits;
- use the service unlawfully or to infringe anyone's rights.
7. Your data
Your memorization record is yours. You can export it and delete it from within the app at any time. What we store and for how long is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
8. Availability and changes
We aim to keep Darajat available and working, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may change, suspend or discontinue features. If we discontinue the service altogether, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export your data before it is deleted.
9. No warranty
Darajat is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. In particular, we do not warrant that the review schedule it produces is optimal for you — it is an estimate produced by an algorithm, and your teacher's judgement should outrank it.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for loss of data arising from your use of the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, you keep every statutory right your local law gives you.
11. Termination
You may stop using Darajat and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms, and will tell you why where we are permitted to.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will notify you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Darajat after that means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Tajikistan, without regard to conflict of law rules. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of your own country of residence.
